New York Academy and WASC Accreditation
There are numerous accrediting agencies in the United States and around the world that affirm the qualifications of schools. The most widely recognized accrediting agencies for colleges and universities are: Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).
New York Academy will be accredited by WASC.
WASC Accreditation is a school improvement process and therefore is a process that serves as the foundation for quality education.
An accredited school is a statement to the broader community and the stakeholders that it is trustworthy institution for student learning and committed to ongoing improvement.
Accreditation is important because it:
- Helps determine if an institution meets or exceeds minimum standards of quality.
- Helps students determine acceptable institutions for enrollment.
- Assist institutions in determining acceptability of transfer credits.
New York Academy has been approved to complete the WASC Accreditation Process. We have submitted and had approved our initial application. A WASC Accreditation Visiting Team will come to New York Academy this April to facilitate the start of the Self-Study, School Improvement Process. This is a 3-year process, which will result in New York Academy’s full accreditation.
