Admissions Policies

Admissions Policies

At New York Academy, we welcome all types of learners. We have programs in place to meet the needs of gifted students as well as students with learning and cognitive disabilities. We know that our entire community benefits from having a diverse student body where students can learn from each other and share their knowledge and experiences.

Prior to admissions, we assess applicants to determine their readiness for our program and to ensure that they will be happy and successful in our school. Assessment for admissions to preschool and kindergarten is an assessment of developmental readiness. For first grade and above, we use a variety of formative  assessments to learn the applicant’s academic and social skills. Once admitted, these readiness assessments are used by teachers to individualize instruction and effectively integrate your child into our classroom environment.
